Problem: your audio is skipping or buffering on Windows 10 or 11.
These symptoms can be very annoying. There is a simple solution, though:
Windows 10
- Press the Windows key (at the bottom left of your keyboard) + i to open the Windows settings.
- Go to System > Sound > More Sound Settings.
- Right-click your default playback device and click Properties.
- Click Enhancement, and check the Disable all sound effects option.
- Click Apply and OK to save the operations.
If the issue persists, try to change the audio format.
- Press Windows + i to open the Windows setting.
- Go to System > Sound > More Sound Settings.
- Right-click your default playback device and click Properties.
- Click the Advanced > Select 16-bit, 44100 Hz (CD Quality).
- Click Apply and OK to save the changes.
Windows 11
- Press the Windows key (at the bottom left of your keyboard) + i to open the Windows settings.
- Click the “burger” menu (☰) at top left, select System > Sound > More Sound Settings.
- Right-click your default playback device and click Properties.
- Click Enhancement, and check the Disable all enhancements option.
- Click Apply and OK to save the operations.
